Meet Luke and Russ from Western Australia. Luke works as a Team Leader and Business Analyst, and Russ is a Registered Nurse. They met in 2013 on a dating site and got married in August 2021. They've always dreamed of raising a beautiful family and recently welcomed their first child!

"We welcomed our first child into the world in January 2023. Our little girl Isla was born in Alberta, thanks to our incredible surrogate and her family! We love hearing our daughter laugh, seeing how happy she is, and watching her learn, grow and be curious every day. We know she is going to be the best big sister anyone could ask for, and it would be so special for her to grow up with a sibling.

It has always been our dream to have two children, and we feel that now is the time to give our daughter a sibling and complete our family. I don’t think it’s possible to spoil a child with love, but our family absolutely adore Isla and love spending time with her and none of us can wait for a sibling! We are so excited for this next journey and the love that we can offer."

Quick overview on a few things you need to know about becoming a surrogate in Canada: 

  • You must be a female of 21-49 years of age

  • Have delivered one or more child(ren) of your own

  • Have experienced healthy pregnancies and births

  • Lead a healthy lifestyle and be physically/mentally healthy in general

Surrogates in Canada are: 

  • Reimbursed all of their expenses. (average $20,000-30,000)

  • Can apply for 15 weeks of maternity leave (if eligible)

  • Have independent legal representation and a legal contract

  • Will travel to the Intended Parents clinic - all costs covered
