Ambika and Gyan

 

Meet Ambika and Gyan. They live in Kelowna, BC where Gyan works as a Lecturer and Ambika works as a Nail Technician. They've been together 16 years now after being introduced by their parents and can't wait to have their first child!

Gyan and Ambika have been on a long journey to become parents and their resiliency and courage throughout it is humbling. These two have a soft, yet strong, fighting spirit and are amazing communicators when it comes to being articulate and responding quickly.

“This will be our first child. We always wanted to be parents from the very beginning of our marriage. We want to make our family complete, a dream with us since more than sixteen years ago. We believe children add happiness to our lives and families. Our families and friends are very supportive of us having our children via surrogacy. They are praying for us for its success. We are very fortunate to have friends and families like them. They will respect and worship the surrogate as an angel for us.”

Quick overview on a few things you need to know about becoming a surrogate in Canada: 

  • You must be a female of 21-49 years of age

  • Have delivered one or more child(ren) of your own

  • Have experienced healthy pregnancies and births

  • Lead a healthy lifestyle and be physically/mentally healthy in general

Surrogates in Canada are: 

  • Reimbursed all of their expenses. (average $20,000-30,000)

  • Can apply for 15 weeks of maternity leave (if eligible)

  • Have independent legal representation and a legal contract

  • Will travel to the Intended Parents clinic - all costs covered
