Batya & Jacob

 

Meet Batya and Jacob. They live in North Vancouver BC where Batya works as an Engineer and Jacob is a Product Manager. They met online in the San Francisco Bay Area and bonded over their love of food and of the outdoors. They've been together 13 years and married for a little over 6 years, and recently welcomed their first son! They can't wait to give him a sibling! "Our surrogate will be a forever part of our story as we will be of theirs. As such we would love to continue building our relationship after the baby is born by whatever is most practical. Just as we would be sharing updates with our family and friends, we would love for the surrogate to be included on these photos and updates. If we happen to live close to the surrogate we would love to invite them for things like birthdays or periodic visits. "

Quick overview on a few things you need to know about becoming a surrogate in Canada: 

  • You must be a female of 21-49 years of age

  • Have delivered one or more child(ren) of your own

  • Have experienced healthy pregnancies and births

  • Lead a healthy lifestyle and be physically/mentally healthy in general

Surrogates in Canada are: 

  • Reimbursed all of their expenses. (average $20,000-30,000)

  • Can apply for 15 weeks of maternity leave (if eligible)

  • Have independent legal representation and a legal contract

  • Will travel to the Intended Parents clinic - all costs covered
