S and K

 

Meet K and S. They live in Toronto, Ontario where K works as a Lawyer and S works as an Operations Manager for a Non-Profit. They met at a barbecue for a mutual friend and have now been married for over 21 years. They can't wait to begin a family!

"We have always wanted to be parents and both of us love children. We want to pass on our strong values of love, respect and integrity to a new generation of our family. We want to share our love with our child, and to see our child grow up to be a kind, decent and helpful adult, who is able to contribute positively to society. Both of our respective parents were immigrants to Canada, who instilled in us to pursue post-secondary education, lead fulfilling lives, and give back to our communities. For example, S works at a not-for-profit organization that advocates for persons with disabilities who live in poverty in Canada. She takes incredible pride in knowing that her work, hopefully, benefits the lives of her fellow Canadians who may have disabilities and who are living in poverty. We want to be parents so that we can also play a positive role in developing and instilling a similar sense of caring in our children."

Quick overview on a few things you need to know about becoming a surrogate in Canada: 

  • You must be a female of 21-49 years of age

  • Have delivered one or more child(ren) of your own

  • Have experienced healthy pregnancies and births

  • Lead a healthy lifestyle and be physically/mentally healthy in general

Surrogates in Canada are: 

  • Reimbursed all of their expenses. (average $20,000-30,000)

  • Can apply for 15 weeks of maternity leave (if eligible)

  • Have independent legal representation and a legal contract

  • Will travel to the Intended Parents clinic - all costs covered
